در تاریخ ٢ آوریل کنفرانس سالانه اتحادیه ملی دانشجویان (NUS) *. با شرکت بیشتر از ١٠٠٠ نماینده از دانشگاهها و
کالجهای اصلی نقاط انگلستان، اسکاتلند و ولز با اکثریتی قریب به اتفاق دانشجوی فعال
ایرانی، انوشه آزادبر را بعنوان نایب رئیس افتخاری NUS انتخاب نمودند.
کنفرانس سالانه اتحادیه ملی دانشجویان یک یا چند نایب رئیس افتخاری را جهت اعلام
همبستگی با مبارزه برای آزادی و برابری در
اقصی نقاط جهان انتخاب می کند. این
منتخبین برای چهار سال این عنوان را خواهند داشت. سال گذشته نمایندگان کنفرانس رهبر
زندانی کارگران اتوبوسرانی تهران، منصور اسانلو را برگزیده بودند. کمپین "آموزش و پرورش برای فروش نیست" (ENS)، که گروهی از سوسیالیستهای متشکل در NUS است، کاندیداتوری
انوشه را سازماندهی کرده بودند. یکی از اعضایENS به نام Darcy
Leigh، نماینده کنفرانس
از دانشگاه ادینبورگ با سخنانی نامزدی انوشه را چنین اعلام نمود:
"کنفرانس سال
گذشته ما منصور اسانلو، رهبر اتحادیه کارگران اتوبوسرانی را بعنوان نایب رئیس
افتخاری انتخاب کرد. امسال ما بار دیگر می
توانیم همبستگی خویش را با کارگران و دانشجویان در ایران با انتخاب انوشه آزادبر
اعلام کنیم. انوشه دانشجوی دانشگاه تهران می باشد. او یکی از ٥٠ فعال دانشجویی است که در دسامبر
سال گذشته به دلیل برگزاری تجمعات اعتراضی بر علیه رژیم سرکوبگر و وحشی ایران و
خطر جنگی امپریالیستی در ایران بازداشت گردیده بود. همانند بیشتر آنهایی که بازداشت شده بودند، انوشه یک
سوسیالیست است، فعالی در گروه دانشجویان آزادیخواه و برابری طلب که سعی بر برقراری
ارتباط جنبش دانشجویی با جنبش کارگران و زنان را دارد.
خواهران و برادران ما در ایران در مقابل رژیمی قرار گرفته اند که فعالین
اتحادیه های کارگری و دانشجویان را زندانی و شکنجه می کند، رژیمی که همجنس گراها
را اعدام می کند، رژیمی که در قانون آن زن "نصف" یک مرد ارزش دارد و
رژیمی که اقلیتهای قومی و مذهبی و هر کسی
را که بر علیه جنایتهایش سخن بگوید مجازات می کند.
آنها، دانشجویان آزادیخواه و برابری طلب، همچنین در مقابل خطر تحریمهای
اقتصادی، بمباران و تهاجم توسط قویترین ماشین جنگی دنیا قرار دارند. در حالی که انوشه و دیگران آزاد شده اند، چهار
دانشجوی دیگر هنوز در اسارت هستند.
اگرهمبستگی بین المللی برای شما جدی است، اگر ضدیت با جنگ برایتان
جدی است، اگر آزادی و دمکراسی در دانشگاه
و جامعه برایتان جدی هستند، انوشه آزادبر را بعنوان نایب رئیس افتخاریمان انتخاب
کنید.
این انتخاب سیاست NUS را در ضدیت با جنگ، با پشتیبانی از
کارگران، دانشجویان، زنان و دیگر جنبشهای دمکراسی خواه از پایین را به هم پیوند می
زند. ENS برای اجرای این سیاست
بطور جدی اقدام خواهد نمود."

students elect jailed Iranian activist as honorary leader
On 2
April, the annual conference of the National Union of Students, attended by
over 1,000 delegates from universities and colleges across the UK, voted
overwhelmingly to elect Iranian student activist Anoosheh Azaadbar as an
Honorary Vice-President.
Every
year the conference elects one or more Honorary VPs, who remains in office for
four years, as a symbol of solidarity with struggles for equality and freedom
across the world. Last year, delegates elected jailed Tehran bus workers'
leader Mansour Ossanlou.
The
campaign to elect Anoosheh was run by Education Not for Sale (ENS), a socialist
faction within the NUS. ENS member Darcy Leigh, a conference delegate from
Edinburgh University, proposed the nomination with the following speech:
"Conference,
last year we elected Mansour Ossanlou, leader of the Tehran bus workers' union,
as our honorary vice president. This year, we can once again stand with workers
and students in Iran by electing Anoosheh Azaadbar.
"Anoosheh
is a student at Tehran University. She's one of 50 student activists arrested
in Iran last December for organising protests against both a brutal and oppressive
regime and the threat of imperialist war.
"Like
most of those arrested, Anoosheh is a socialist - an activist in the group
Freedom and Equality-Seeking Students, which seeks to link the student movement
to the workers' and women's movements.
"Our
sisters and brothers in Iran are faced by a regime that locks up and tortures
both trade union and student activists; that executes LGBT people; that values
women as 'half a man' in the eyes of the law and that persecutes religious and national
minorities as well as anyone who speaks out against its crimes.
"They
also face the threat of economic sanctions, bombing raids and invasion by the
most powerful military machine on earth.
"Two
of Anoosheh's student comrades have been killed in prison. WhilstAnoosheh
and others have been released, four people remain in prison and they all face
continued persecution.
"Conference,
if you're serious about international solidarity, if you're serious about
opposing war, if you're serious about freedom and democracy on campus and in
society, elect Anoosheh Azaadbar as our honorary vice president."
The
election strengthens NUS's policy of combining opposition to war with support
for workers', students', women's and other democratic movements from below in Iran.
ENS will be fighting for that policy to be implemented vigorously.
